Wicked Footwear, located in Alton, NH, has created a new line of footwear as of March 2008: Wicked Hemp!

Unlike other companies’ hemp products, Wicked Hemp Footwear is built to last and can handle anything from casual walking to mountain hiking. Built for high function, comfort, and with 100% Vegan and Hemp materials.

The rugged Hemp Hikers are available in both Men’s and Women’s patterns. Uppers are over 70% Hemp with Vegan materials, and lightweight rubber outsoles. The hikers have stylish designs, popular colors and all the comfort features that consumers love.

Why go Hemp, you ask? It's the future-past vision of Co-Owner Matt Mahmet. Matt has combined his 8 years in the footwear industry and his personal interests in outdoor lifestyle with his love of the entire Eco/Hemp movement.

Matt’s interest in Eco-materials developed during his studies in American history about early farmers growing hemp for many important uses, and its subsequent shut-down in the 1930s by competing major industries like cotton, timber and plastic. During college he truly became a Hemp Enthusiast, in a time when Eco and the benefits of Hemp were almost unknown.

During his years with Wicked Footwear, Matt has converted a small farm into the Wicked Headquarters, which includes mountains, trails and streams; terrain ideal for engineering and testing new Wicked products. Future plans for the farm include a campus and facilities with an Eco atmosphere in which to develop, work, and test new Wicked products.

The new launch of Wicked Hemp products takes the approach of 'At Once' delivery - not selling futures. Retailers today want to have product on the shelf, especially when it retails the way Wicked Hemp hikers have. The launch has been very successful, delivering
an average of 12% sell-through per week and at more locations than ever before.
